Welile Agent Types
Welile has several agent roles. Each one does different work, holds different money, and has its own help section.
If you are not sure which you are, the quickest test is what you spend your day doing: tenants and houses, Supporters and capital, or paying out other people's withdrawals.
Field Agents
Rental operations in the field — the role most Welile agents hold.
A Field Agent registers tenants, posts Rent Requests, verifies landlords and LC1 Chairpersons, lists vacant houses, pays landlords once a plan is funded, and collects repayments day after day.
They hold operational float, landlord float and their own earnings.
Sub-agents
The same field work, under a parent agent.
A sub-agent is recruited and trained by a senior agent, and every Rent Request they post is reviewed by that agent before it reaches head office. Their earnings work the same way, with part of a collection commission going to the parent agent for that support.
A sub-agent who does not yet have a National ID card can be verified through parent-agent ID linking.
Proxy Agents
Supporters and capital, rather than tenants and houses.
A Proxy Agent introduces a Supporter or partner, arranges the Promissory Note recording what they commit, and sees that commitment through to an active rental portfolio — then stays with them as they add more.
They do not register tenants, collect rent or pay landlords.
Merchant Agents
A cash-out point.
A Merchant Agent takes a user's withdrawal request and pays it out — from company float held in their account, or from their own Mobile Money line — confirms it with proof, and earns 0.5% of the amount.
They record two separate phone numbers before they can work: one for company float, one for their own money.
They do not originate Rent Plans.
Financial Agents
An internal role, handling operational expense requisitions through approval steps. It holds no float and does no field work.
This help centre does not cover that role. It is named here only so the roles can be told apart. Contact your Welile contact or support for guidance.
Why the roles are kept apart
The money is different in each case: company float held for rent, a Supporter's capital, a merchant's own Mobile Money balance. Keeping the roles separate keeps each kind of money accountable on its own.
Holding one role does not give you another role's tools or another role's earnings.
